Clair — College Admissions Calculator & Essay Guide
Hello! I'm Clair, your personal college counselor. Clair is a free college admissions helper. Compare your GPA and SAT/ACT scores with recently admitted students at U.S. colleges, and get step-by-step guidance on the Common App essay, supplementals, and UC PIQs.
How it works
We compare your academic profile with recently admitted students at each school.
- Enter your scores. Add your GPA and SAT or ACT score.
- Pick a school. Search for the university you're considering.
- See how you fit. Get a quick comparison with last year's admitted class.
College admissions look at more than numbers — essays, extracurriculars, and recommendations all matter. This tool is meant to give you a starting point, not a final answer.
Frequently asked questions
What does the Clair admissions calculator do?
It compares your unweighted GPA and SAT or ACT score with the middle 50% score ranges and GPA distribution of students recently admitted to the college you pick, so you can see whether your numbers are below, within, or above that school's typical admitted range.
Where does the admissions data come from?
Clair uses each college's publicly reported admissions statistics, such as acceptance rate, SAT and ACT 25th/50th/75th percentile scores, and the GPA distribution of the most recent admitted class.
Can the calculator predict whether I will get in?
No. Colleges also weigh essays, extracurricular activities, recommendations, and context. The calculator is a starting point for building a balanced college list, not a final answer.
Is Clair free to use?
Yes. The admissions calculator, the essay guide, and the blog are free.
What essay help does Clair offer?
The Clair Essay Guide walks through the Common App personal statement, school-specific supplemental essays for dozens of selective colleges, and the University of California Personal Insight Questions (PIQs).
